In his work, Jasper Coppes focuses on the dominant narratives we tell about natural areas and the processes that take place within them. With the short film Aasivissuit, Jasper presents an alternative to the stories we often see and hear about the Arctic: narratives about climate change and resource exploitation. Instead of repeating this, his fi lm gives room to a different, more intimate perspective, which he developed in close collaboration with people in Greenland. During his residency at Syb, Jasper worked on the final edits of Aasivissuit. During his residency, he also developed plans for a new film, with which he will continue the same theme in the Netherlands following year.
