CROSS-REFERENCE
Scott Joseph, Rachel Koolen, Camilla Wills, Susana Pedrosa, Mrova, Ceel Mogami de Haas
The Object Lag, Cross-Reference looks into the practice of writing and use of theory as an integral part of work by artists and designers. Cross-Reference aims to explore potential ‘readings’ of essays, texts and approaches in writing by experimenting with possible forms of presentation, that aim to stretch further than a linear reading of text or a presentation in printed form.
Scott Joseph, Rachel Koolen, Camilla Wills, Susana Pedrosa, Mrova a.k.a Ivette Zub and Ceel Mogami de Haas are selected on the basis of their practices rooted in theory and writing, be it evident in a recent BA thesis or as a core engagement in the structure of their practice. They are invited to look into possibilities of the process itself, to experiment with forms of possible presentation, where writing becomes more then clarification of the artwork, but a work in itself.
Cross-Reference is five week working period that builds towards a collective presentation on Friday the 15th of October punctuated by public presentations every Saturday evening.
The Object Lag, Cross Reference is a concept by Emily Williams, artist and guest curator of Nieuwe Vide, organized in collaboration with Maja Bekan artist and program comité of Kunsthuis SYB and Suzie Hermán MA student Art History. Cross- Reference takes place in the framework The Object Lag, the 2010 year program of Nieuwe Vide art space in Haarlem. Look for the whole program: www.nieuwevide.nl.
